What is delegating?
The definition of delegating is to entrust a task or responsibility to another person.
Why is that important?
If you are the adult child of a senior who requires daily care, it’s important to delegate tasks like household chores or errands so that you can spend time not only doing the more important things like helping your senior with medical issues, but also so that you can spend more time with your family and do the other things that you need to do.
Being a family caregiver can be exhausting, both physically and mentally. If you can save time and energy by asking someone else to do some tasks for you, such as grocery shopping and other errands, or light household chores like dusting, mopping, and laundry, why not take advantage?
That is where home care comes in. Professional caregivers are specifically trained to help with issues that are common with seniors who are aging in place at home. They can help with shopping and even prepare meals for your senior, which will give you back much-needed time that we know you can never get enough of.
Caregivers can also help with housework, and with other essential functions such as helping your senior parent or loved one with their grooming and bathroom needs, which can sometimes be a difficult task for family members when their seniors might be embarrassed or unwilling to let you help them.
Professional caregivers can be hired to help for as little or as much time as you need, so you are able to start slow and add more hours if it is working out for you.
If control is something you have a bit of difficulty letting go of, consider picking some of the smaller tasks at first to give it a try. Once you see how much more time it gives you back, we think you might be ready to move on to bigger things, saving you energy and giving you some of your life back!
You have an important job, but no one should be solely responsible for the care and companionship of an aging senior. They say “It takes a village”, so let hired caregivers come in and help you give the very best time and care to your senior or loved one at home.
If you are still on the fence about having someone else help you with the day to day needs of your senior, call us up and we would be happy to talk to you and answer any questions that you may have about caregivers and professional home care. We want everyone to feel confident about our staff and services and are happy to talk to you about the ways in which we can take some of the responsibilities off of your plate, giving you back much-needed time, but more importantly, giving your senior the very best possible care!
